My Monday

My day started with the alarm going off at 6:15 am. I hit the alarms snooze until 6:35 because I am still tired from staying up last night watching my favorite show, Army Wives, which doesn't get over until 11:00pm. After getting ready, I wake Cory up, walk down the hall and get Carson up, dressed, and teeth brushed, get his bag ready for Mrs. Julie's house, turn on The Wiggles, and say my goodbyes. The entire time I am getting in my car in the garage, I can hear Carson crying Mama, Mama. Times like this I really hate leaving him. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job but days like this, it becomes hard. I knew that today, I had a full day meeting, which I was informed of last week that I was going to be the Project Manager on, and then after that I had to go to dinner with the team that was going to be involved. So by this time, something like 7:25am, I am not the best mood. I try my best to snap out of it before I get to work because ready or not, Monday is here.
I get into work at about 7:40 to discover that the agenda that I had prepared Friday for today's meeting has changed. I take care of that, prepare some additional documents, make sure I have my login information for a demo, test it...you guessed it, NO it didn't work, scramble to find someone who can reset my login information, and then try to breath. As I come around the corner, I see that someone has been in my cube and left a note on my board. "SEE ME WHEN YOU GET BACK! " Lord, what now - it's my manager. It is 20 minutes before our client arrives, I really hope that she isn't going to spring something else that needs to be done for the meeting. So I go over to see her, she picks up a binder and says can we go in here and starts walking in the direction of a private room with a door. Most people at this point would probably start to panic. Me on the other hand, thought to myself, what have I done or not done. Little did I know, my manager handed me a sticky note with my new title, Senior Recruiting Analyst. I had received a promotion. OK, so the day wasn't looking so shabby after all, especially since I was not aware of this opportunity.
So we had the meeting that lasted from 9 - 3:30...overall, it went well - no major hiccups. Now I just had dinner to do and then I could go home, take a hot shower, and go to bed. Well, I truly was thinking that I would be home at around 8 at the latest. That is also what I told my patient husband. Not the case, since I rode with my boss, it was 9:00 before we left dinner and then my boss dropped me back off at work to get my car. I called Cory at 9:15 and told him I was on my way home. Me and my wishful thoughts, asked if Carson was still awake....of course not. I knew he probably wouldn't be as he goes to sleep around 8. I have to say that I was bummed. I hadn't seen him since this morning. I am used to my C-dub time in the afternoon (I pick him up most days and we have lunch together before Nana sits with him) and in the evening. Yes, so with my tiredness, I got a little grouchy....thinking I wish I didn't have to do all this with work so that I can spend time with my boys....but I really love my job and my family....can I just have the best of both worlds...Work when I want to and be home when I want to? By this time, I was pulling in the driveway and got over myself real quick. Thank God for Cory - I walk in, he gives me a hug, tells me congrats and to go get in the shower. I first wanted to stop by and kiss my bubby. Just as I lean over the crib to give him a kiss, he opens his eyes, I get a smile, then a cry, and then he reaches for me. Most nights, I would just pat his hiney and walk out and he would go back to sleep. Even though I was EXHAUSTED, I got him, we snuggled for a couple of minutes, and he went back to sleep. It was GREAT!!! I just got out of the most amazing 30 minute steaming, hot shower and decided that I was going to write about my day....After all, I will probably not have another day like this for a long time. Today, I got the best of both worlds

Baby Rabbits

Cory was out mowing the yard this afternoon (1st time in about 6 weeks since we are in a drought) and found these little guys over by our air conditioner unit...

Unfortunatley, Carson had just laid down to take a nap so he didn't get to see them. Hopefully, we will see them grow up in our back yard.

Like Father...Like Son

Today, I had to work at a Recruiting Event for Lowe's therefore, Carson had some Daddy time. Because I didn't have to be at work until 9:00 I was able to sleep in until 7:45 which was very nice. I was able to get Carson up, dressed, and fed before I left. By this time, Cory was up and ready to take Carson out on a few errands. Carson is a big helper by always taking Daddy's shoes to him in the morning. Carson went and got Cory's shoes and then went and got his shoes and put them on the floor like this:

Can you tell which ones are Carson's and which ones are Cory's? :)

Butt....unnn

That is Carson's new word. It is quite funny because it comes out with a little southern drawl- butt....unn. You and I know it as Button. He has always loved buttons. He finds them everywhere, on your shirt, pants, couch, jammies, chair, etc. If there is a button, Carson will find it. However, he just started saying the word this weekend.
We thought that since he got down button that we could get him to say Peyton since they sound similar. After all, he can say mama, dada, nana, banna (banana), BOO, bebe (baby), and as of tonight Nani (Aren't you happy mom? ....listen to your voicemail as he left you a message.) So for the last few nights Cory and I have been working with him. We ask him to say a word after we would say it and he would do good at repeating what we said....until it came to Peyton. I would say Peyton and he repeats bebe. We would say yes but can you say Peyton...BEBE. Guess that is what we get for saying Baby Peyton for the last 8 months. At least he relates the two together.

Fun with Wipes

This morning Carson woke up in a very good mood, we ate breakfast, and then I decided that I was going to pay some bills and balance the checkbook while he was entertaining himself. He was in the same room with me and I was listening to him chatter away. Obviously, I wasn't pay too much attention because he somehow was able to get the wipe container off the table and get it open without me knowing. This was the result....

I discovered that he just wasn't chattering to me but to all the wipes he had pulled out of the container. I thought it was very funny. I asked him to pick up all the wippees
and bring them to me...he was bringing them to me for about an hour :)

Busy Day

Today has been a very busy day. Unfortunatley, Cory is on call this weekend and he has been called out so far about 7 hours today. That meant that Carson and I had the perfect opportunity to clean the house and do some laundry. We (mommy) got the house cleaned and Carson helped by playing VERY well by himself...the Wiggles movie also helped.

Cory brought home a suprise for Carson from Nana (Cory's mom). It was a Sesame Street Chair with who else but MELMO!!! Carson really enjoys the chair. I am not so sure he likes sitting in it better or carrying it better.

As for the rest of the day, Carson and I went outside to play for a bit tonight and then had baths and now he is snoozing away. Cory just walked in so hopefully he won't get called out anymore. I am going to put my feet up for the first time today and have a relaxing evening.

Teeth

Carson loves water and bath time. Well, since Carson and I were both in good moods tonight we had extra long bath time with lots of bubbles. Daddy came in to check out the fun and decided to take some pictures. I thought they turned out cute...especially the one where you can see all of Carson's teeth.

"Dee"

Carson has a new friend. Daddy is really fond of this new friend, while mommy isn't so much and hasn't been for the last 6 years. I have tried and tried to get rid of this "friend" but he always makes a way into our home. Yes, it is the inevitable DEER BLANKET. Carson is OBSESSED with it. It has turned into a permanent rug on the living room floor. When Carson figures out that I have folded it up and put it away, he walks around saying "dee, dee, dee, dee" He goes over to the "Dee" and gives the Deer hugs and kisses. He eats snacks on the "dee"...we drink our milk on the "dee". I can see it now....30 years from now :) he is walking down the aisle to marry the love of his life and the deer blanket is with him.

HOT HOT HOT

Not much is going on in North Carolina except the HEAT. We set all time records today with 108 degrees / 116 being the heat index. You can say that even with the air conditioning we are cooking. We are ready for a relaxing weekend of nothing to do. Hopefully, it will start cooling off a little.

Carson's Walking

Carson has really been getting braver as the days go by but something has really come over him today. Perhaps, it was the terrible night of sleep we all had :) Carson has been a walking nut today. Just letting go and taking off. One minute, he is content reading a book, the next he is OFF. I believe we have created a monster! And yes, we have had our share of falls today also. Just about an hour and a half ago, he was feeling pretty sure of himself when SMACK - right into the corner of the wall. Cory and I know this is going to happen, a lot, with him walking but lord it takes your breath away. I then sat down with him and was able to get somewhat calmed down, I looked at his forehead again, and kissed it. He then out of nowhere leaned in with his mouth wide opened and wanted a kiss from me. It was so sweet cause that was the first time I got a kiss without asking for one. He now has a BIG bump and bruse on his head...am sure it won't be the last.

Tuckered Out

We had a fun afternoon over at some friends of ours. They have a pool and oh did Carson have fun. He was very well behaved and had fun playing with his friend Madison, who is 3 1/2.

Because he goes to a babysitter and is the only child there, Cory and I have been reallying trying to get him around more children to develop his social skills. When we are able to be around other children, I try to sit and watch how Carson acts. I can honestly say that he is truly his father....the 2nd most laid back thing in the world (Cory being the 1st.). Carson has fun, plays, laughs, etc....he just takes it all in.
