Busy...Busy...Busy

The last few days have been massivley crazy around the Spears household.

Thursday, I headed to the dr for my 35 week visit. To my surprise, my blood pressure was down and everything looked good considering the massive swelling going on. However, the Dr decided to schedule an ultrasound since the last one I had was 5 weeks ago since I am starting to show some of the same signs I had with Carson. They have been keeping a close watch considering the preclampsia with Carson and him being so small so they have been watching her size. 5 weeks ago, they estimated her weight at 3 lbs. so I was anxious to see what her measurements were this time around.

So, on Friday, here Cory and I go back to the dr to have the ultrasound. After waiting for an hour an half because they were behind, we finally got in. Once we got in, the tech started measuring away. She first took a look at the head and then proceeded to ask me if I was a diabetic - which I answered no. The head measured at 38 weeks (3 WEEKS AHEAD). OK NO BIG DEAL...then she measured the legs and arms, the amniotic fluid, then came the tummy measurements. The tech then asked me if I was sure about my due date. I wasn't quite sure how to take it but told her that I was 100% of my cycle date. So then I asked her - it looks like you are measuring her stomach again. She said - "I am, I just want to make sure my measurements the first time were correct". At this point, I could read on the screen, that her tummy was measuring 40 weeks and 6 days (OMG - that is almost 6 WEEKS AHEAD). Cory then speaks up and asks her so how much do you estimate she weighs - the gal said 8lbs 2 oz. Me - laying there on the table, said "Oh, well good, I have made the comment that I really didn't want to have a small baby like Carson was so I can handle an 8 lb baby." The girl then looked at me and said in her southern voice "Darling - that baby is 8 lbs right now - you have almost 4 weeks until your c-section" That is when I about fell on the floor - I thought she was telling me that when the baby came out it would be about 8 lbs. Let's just say, Cory kept asking me if I was OK - I must have looked like I was in a trance. All I can do is THANK GOD I am having a c-section. No wonder I have felt so different this lst month or so and felt like she was huge!!!

Saturday, Cathy had a diaper and wipes shower for us from her family. It was very nice and we should be set for some time with diapers and wipes :) At the end of the shower, Cory and Carson wrote a note to Baby Braxtynn, tied it to her balloons, and let it go. Carson thought it was the coolest.

Today has flown by already with church, errands, and laundry this afternoon. Carson refused to take a nap this afternoon, so Cory and him are in watching football, fussing back and forth like two little boys.... I will be so glad to have some female hormones in this house to balance things out :)

Too Tired

Yesterday afternoon, Carson came in from playing and was ready for some lunch. After a few minutes, I came into the room to find....

Guess he was just too tired to finish eating!

Nice Day

For the past week, Carson and I have been battling a cold, cough, and congestion. Fortunatley, we are almost over it and tried to enjoy some time out. Since Cory was on call this weekend, Carson and I decided to go out and hit some good sales yesterday.

It has started to get cool (in the 70's) here in NC, therefore has prompted me to see what Carson has for fall/winter clothes. I am usually pretty good about hitting the clearance racks the year before but still needed to get some things. Carson lives in long sleeve shirts and "nike" pants the majority of the winter as he is so hot blooded, he sweats in everything else. However, I have a really hard tim finding pants for him cause he is so skinny in his waist and so tall. Thank goodness for Kohls and Penny's cause I found 18 and 24 months pants that are long enough for him and fit him perfectly in the waist. So - i bought pants in every color...black, navy, grey, khaki, and dark brown. We then got some dressier clothes for church and found some killer deals on shoes. By the time we got home in the afternoon, I really felt like we had accomplished a lot and thankful that Carson was done for fall and winter clothes.
By the time we got home Carson was knocked out and ready for a long nap. Cory and I then continued working on Braxtynn's room. We are almost done with it and can't wait to post the pictures when all complete. We have a few picture frames to hang and should get the last piece of bedding this week and then we will be all ready for her.
Another adventure I tackled yesterday was cutting Carson's hair. My sister had talked me into buying clippers and doing it myself as I always gripped after I paid $24 to get a 2 year olds haircut. As I figured, Carson wigged out but I was able to get the job done and it looks OK. It's a little shorter than I wanted but his hair grows really fast.
Now, it is Sunday afternoon and we are sitting outside enjoying the beautfiul weather. Carson is entertaining us by slidding down the slide and throwing ice from Cory's drink. I hope to go in shortly and get my house cleaned and some laundry done.

Smaller feet to no sleep

I worked from home Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday and worked on getting my feet to go down. It worked - they went down quite a bit. So headed back to work on Thursday, had a ton of meetings, and came home and put them up again as they were back swollen. I went to bed about 9:30 to wake up at 10:00 with a sick child. Therefore, I think I got about 2 hours of sleep in between Carson waking up every 30-45 minutes crying. To make it even better, I had a day of meetings and presentations on Friday at work. Fortunately, I called Nena to the rescue and she came and stayed with Carson yesterday while I was at work. I can't believe I made it through the day but literally died last night about 9:30. Carson is feeling a little better, just congested, coughing, and the fever is gone. He did get some sleep last night also which I was thankful for. Hopefully, we are on the upside of things now.

Taking it easy

The last few days have been somewhat crazy. Cory and I were lucky to get a date night on Friday night while Nena watched Carson. Therefore, we spent our evening having a nice dinner and shopping at Babies-R-Us. What more can a girl ask for - Oh yeah - and Cory even had me home in time for bed at 9:30.

Saturday, we headed out and did some errands and came home with Cory's early Christmas present....a bike. He has been wanting one for months but found one that he liked and it was on sale :) I am not sure who liked it more, Cory or Carson.

To top it off, the last few days have begun the serious of symptoms of preclampsia. Lord....I just love being pregnant ;) The headaches, blurred vision, elevated blood pressure and massive swelling. In looking at the calendar, this is exactly the same time frame I had started seeing symptoms when prego with Carson. Therefore, am not taking any chances and called the dr. I had my normal dr appt this afternoon, however, they worked me in this morning and put me through the ringer. Fortunately, at this point my bp went down and all other tests came back negative. They are hoping the spike in symptoms just has to do with the way she is laying (across me) but are keeping a close eye on everything. So, think this is the sign that I better start taking it easy. Dr's told me to stay off my feet as much as possible and take it easy....if not - bed rest. I pray she "cooks" for at least 3 more weeks but hopefully 6 more.

Is this a sign that I should stay off my feet?

Good thing I have a supportive husband and a good little guy at home to make it easier on me!
