Where do I begin...
...to tell begin my story telling of the past 5 days? Should I begin with Cory going outside at 3 am in the morning with his skibbies on in 20 degree weather, the 2 liter of pop exploding, or having to figure out how to de-shadow Carson's room? I don't think Cory and I ever expected our life to be as crazy as it is right now. Fortunatley, we are still making it and hanging in there.
For the past week, Braxtynn has been having some type of gas, colic, tummy issues. The dr has me trying some tricks but they don't seem to be really making a difference. I am giving it until Friday and going to call them back and request some type of prescription gas medicine to see if that will solve the issues.
So if dealing with her pain and crying and my lack of sleep isn't enough, Carson has decided to go through "a phase". He has become absolutley terrified of shadows. Therefore, the last 3 nights he has not wanted to go to sleep. We have been just letting him crash (anytime from 10-11 pm) in the living room and then taking him to his room. However, he has woke up screaming bloody murder each night and ending up in our room at around 1. This is lovely, considering Braxtynn wakes up around 2, which in turn ticks Carson off and he starts yelling at her or me and if she doesn't stop crying then he starts crying. It is a vicious cycle that replays around 5-6am. Obviously, Cory and I talked tonight and agreed we have to get Carson back to a normal bedtime and get him to sleep in his bed. At 9 tonight, we started telling Carson it was bed time and we both took him into his room where he has a MASSIVE meltdown talking about how the shadows were going to take his "special sippy cup with warm milk". Cory and I talked and talked to him and after taking down things on his shelves, boats from the dresser, and the curtain rod we think we have de-shadowed all the potential sippy cup shadow stealers. I just went and checked on him and he is snorring with about 20 stuffed animals in the bed with him. Let's pray he will make it through the night!
Let's see...Cory and his skibbies...At about 2:30 this morning with the whole family in our room, Braxtynn started stirring but wasn't fussing yet so I l waited until she was really awake to feed her. As I was laying there, I thought I heard a beeping sound coming from the living room which I thought was one of the house phones going dead. However, when I got up at 3 to feed Braxtynn, an electronic type voice said "battery low" after the beeping. Yes, of course, one of the smoke alarms had to go dead in the middle of the night and was beeping and talking to us every 2 minutes. After, hearing it for 15 minutes, I put Braxtynn down and proceeded to wake up Cory to make it stop. I didn't have an 9 volt batteries but told Cory I would get one today just to take the stinking thing down and make it stop. He decides that he has some 9 volt batteries in his van and goes outside in his skibbies, sandles, and tshirt in 20 degree weather. He is lucky he didn't freeze his you know what off :) He changes the battery and then the stupid thing has to do a test. You guessed it, the stupid smoke alarm went off and after it went off then the carbon monoxide alarm went off...which woke up Carson and he started screaming. After Cory got him calmed down, he was wide awake. Carson proceeded to tell me...as I was trying to get Braxtynn back down...that it was morning time and he didn't have to shut his eyes or get in the bed. Finally, at about 4:30 this morning he fell back asleep. So...Lesson learned - don't let your batteries in your smoke alarm go bad!
Today, has been a pretty eventful day...so we thought. Tonight we sat down for dinner and all I wanted was a glass of Diet coke. I opened up the 2 liter at the table and poured about a third of a glass. All of a sudden it starts sudding up and coming out of the lid of the 2 liter. Cory and I looked at eachother and I ran to get some towels. It was like someone shook up the two liter but the fizziness was on a delayed reaction. When I came back in the room, Cory had his hand over the opening of the bottle and was trying to get to the sink. Again...all I wanted was a glass of pop. I got the mess on the table cleaned up and took my glass into the kitchen to find an EMPTY bottle in the sink. Yep, the whole freakin thing exploded in the sink when Cory took his hand off. Cory and I laughed so hard and I was so mad that I didn't have my glass and of course, I had no other pop in the house. Tomorrow, I am going to go get a big fat diet coke that is unexplodable.
OK - I think that is enough drama for one posting.

Sick and Bonding Time
This weekend has been filled with a household of sick people and A LOT of bonding time.
Cory, Carson, and I have all been fighting a cold, cough, sore throat, fever issue since Thursday. Therefore, we didn't do much until today. Yesterday, was spent taking naps, watching Backyardigans, and snuggling. After everyone had baths and jammies on last night, we decided it was rest time in the living room. Braxtynn was laying on her pillow when Carson decided he wanted to come and snuggle with her. Looks like he is continuing to get used to Braxtynn being a permanent fixture in the house!

This morning, we got up and felt somewhat better so decided to attempt to go to church. For the most part it went well and we had no melt downs until after lunch. Fortunatley, Carson fell asleep on the way home, and Braxtynn and I came and got in the bed for a few hour nap (THANKS, CORY! ). Carson did wake up in a better mood and had an extra long vapor bath to help his nose. He really likes these cause the vapor bath makes really good bubbles!

Cold/fever bug
I HATE this time of year with all the sickness going around. Unfortunatley, our house has become a victim of the dreadful cold...fever..cough..snot (have I ever mentioned boogies and snot make me sick).
Carson woke up yesterday with some snotties, that turned into 102 fever last night and has been sick all day today. Then to my surprise, Cory got home from work today, complaining of a sore throat which I am sure is turning into something more. I have just given both of them their glass of orange juice to drink, medicine, and put them in the same bed together.
Now, I am hoping that my chest congestion is not the beginning of something as who will take care of this klan?!?!?!

Our little piggy
I took Braxtynn to her 2 week dr appt today. She weighs in at 8 lbs 8 oz which is almost a lb more than last week. The dr asked me if I was able to keep up with her and I told her barely!!! She has also grown an inch and a half in a week which puts her in the 90%...think she may take after her daddy on the height thing :)

Bath Time
Last night, we gave Braxtynn her first good bath since her belly button cord fell off. She absolutley loved it. Afterwards, she ate and slept from 11:15 to 4:45 so I can't complain.

Great Big Brother!!!
It has been an adjustment having Braxtynn in the house...especially for Carson. He has done very well but we have learned that everything that has to do with the baby has to be on his terms. He is slowly warming up to her and never seems to amaze us with his little comments or actions towards her when we least expect it.
We have been working with Carson and explaining to him that since Braxtynn is here, we have to take turns and share mommy and daddy's time. Tonight, Cory got called out just as bath time was upon us but I was sure I would be able to take care of things and promised not to lift Carson. I finished giving Carson a bath and told him it was Braxtynn's turn for a bath but I would put a movie on for him. He graciously was fine with it and kept reminding me "we take turns" while I was bathing Braxtynn. Just as I wrapped up Braxtynn in her towel, Carson looked up at me and said " Can I hold her?" WHAT - he hasn't even wanted to really go near her, wouldn't kiss or hug her, and now he just asked me if he could hold her. I told him to get up in the chair and he could. He put his arms out and held her wonderfully...I only wished Cory was home to see it as we wondered if he would ever warm up to her but we weren't going to push him. Fortunately, the camera was within reaching distance so I was able to capture the video below. Let's just say, Carson is a fantastic big brother and Braxtynn is so lucky to have him!
Happy Halloween
Last year, we started a tradition with our good friends of getting together on Halloween night. They live out in the country and have nowhere to go trick-o-treating so they come over and go in our neighborhood. This year was a little more exciting or chaotic as we have doubled the number of children....we went from 2 to 4.
Madison, Carson and the dads had a great time trick-o treating while Connelly, Braxtynn and the moms stayed home passing out candy. Carson really enjoyed his costume and didn't want to take it off.
